I don’t photograph Paris for its noise, but for its silence
Philippe Triconnet is a French photographer based near Paris.
During a long career in banking, he also developed a professional activity in live performance and event video before returning to still photography. Since retiring from banking in 2024, he has devoted himself fully to photography. Portraits and street photography were part of his early practice, before his work gradually turned towards images shaped by light, structure, and stillness.
Black and white remains central to his personal practice, while his work also includes colour and portraiture. He is drawn to the way light reveals a place, a face, or a passing human presence. Museums, train stations, places of worship, and the streets of Paris provide much of his material, with close attention to composition and to moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
He also writes a journal on photography, exploring attention, artistic practice and the changing ways images are made, shared and seen.
His work has received recognition on 1x, where he was granted Awarded Photographer status in January 2026. Two photographs, The Last Turn and Crossing Shadows, have received the platform’s Awarded distinction. His work was also featured in Glass’s May 2026 Black and White category highlight.
